Measures to close the gap in the ring of facilities at the Sana Clinic begin

06.02.2026

As reported, at its most recent meeting, the municipal council decided on the next steps to complete the ring of facilities at the Sana Klinikum. A continuous green parking area is to be created on the municipal land between Starkenburgring and the Sana Clinic, thus closing the "gap" in the ring of facilities there. To this end, two buildings that are still located within this area will have to be demolished.

One of these is the former gatehouse to the former Offenbach city hospital, which was also home to a flower store for a time. The second building is Starkenburgring No. 50, which was originally built as a kindergarten and is now still used as a medical care center in the southern part. The northern part of the building is empty. Only the northern part of this building can be demolished as a first step, as the southern part is still needed until the medical care center moves.

In preparation for the conversion of this area into the plant ring, tree maintenance work is necessary for traffic safety reasons. Some trees are not stable or are too close to the buildings that will be demolished, so they have to be removed.

The pruning and removal of the trees will be carried out from next week, i.e. before the start of the bird breeding season. The work will be carried out by the City of Offenbach's own company in coordination with the Environmental Agency. This will be followed by the demolition of the buildings. However, it will be some time before the newly created public green space is completed. These new green spaces will also include replacement planting for the currently necessary clearing work.
