Quota for letting subsidized housing to households with social urgency was met

It is particularly difficult for people on low incomes to find suitable housing. For this reason, the City of Offenbach has concluded an agreement with the building companies and building cooperatives. This controls the allocation of housing to households that have particular difficulty finding suitable and affordable housing. The quotas were also met in 2024.
"To make it easier for people from the special target groups to find affordable housing, the quotas are set according to certain criteria," explains Sabine Groß, the Mayor responsible for the housing department "The evaluation has shown that the quotas were more than met last year. This shows how important this agreement is."
There were fewer requests for subsidized housing from the women's shelter residents than the quota stipulated. The building companies and building cooperatives have committed to the following quotas in a voluntary agreement. For residents of the women's shelter and single parents who already have an apartment and are looking for another apartment that is larger or cheaper, for example, the weighting is 7.5 percent of the apartments that become available, or 15 apartments each. For single parents, families and younger people from emergency accommodation as well as for older people or severely disabled people, the weighting is 5 percent or 10 apartments.
