Plot next to town church to be redesigned
31.05.2024 – Together with the Real Estate Office, the Office for Planning and Building is preparing the expansion of the Stadthof to include parts of the property at Herrnstrasse 38. The owner has an obligation to build on this property. Due to technical and economic reasons, the realization of the construction project has been delayed.
In order to make the site accessible to the public, the city councillors decided at the end of March to extend the construction period for the owner. At the same time, a contract is to be concluded with the owner regarding the open space design, maintenance and use by the public.
Preparations for the implementation of the decision are underway and the owner has recently received a cost estimate for review. As anticipated by the city councillors, this process cannot be completed by May 31, 2024. Therefore, the Planning and Building Department, together with the Stadtservice department responsible for green maintenance, will shortly be proposing how parts of the site can be temporarily made available for public use this summer. Possible options include planters and the relocation of the table tennis table in front of the town hall pavilion is being examined. For security reasons, part of the site will remain fenced off for this year.
It is planned that the implementation of the long-term solution will begin this year as discussed with the investor. If no final solution is reached for the property by the end of the year, it will revert to the City of Offenbach am Main as the previous owner.
