Marina in the harbor: City council paves the way for the selection process

21.05.2025

Anchorages are to become a marina.

The marina at the harbour is to be reorganized and berths offered to citizens. A new selection procedure must be carried out beforehand. This is necessary as the City of Offenbach had revoked its consent to the conclusion of a rental agreement in April 2024. The selection procedure is intended for interested parties who would like to rent water areas in the port and build and operate a marina there.

A key points paper was submitted to Offenbach City Council to provide a reliable basis for preparing the selection process. This was approved by the city council at its most recent meeting on Wednesday, May 7. As soon as the tender documents have been finalized with the city's procurement office, they will be submitted to the city council for a decision. Following approval by the city councillors, the actual implementation is expected to begin in the third quarter. The costs for OPG Offenbacher Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH for the preparation and implementation of the selection procedure amounting to around EUR 33,000 are available in this year's budget.

As a result of last year's discussions and subsequent talks, the key points paper envisages leasing two water areas. A slightly larger area in the northern part of the harbor basin and a second in the south. The basic idea is that the selection process will focus on different areas. This will make it possible to accommodate different interests in the use of the marina.
