City of Offenbach

Ron Reck takes over as Head of the Office for Planning and Building

11.02.2026

Ron Reck is the new Head of the Office for Planning and Construction in Offenbach.

Ron Reck has been the new head of the Planning and Building Department since the start of the year. The 50-year-old succeeds Simon Valerius, who was elected as the new full-time city councillor in Rüsselsheim in September 2024. Ron Reck is a graduate traffic engineer with many years of professional and management expertise in Germany and abroad, including at companies such as Atkins and Dornier in London and Abu Dhabi as well as in Frankfurt.

Since 2012, Reck has worked at Albert Speer + Partner in Frankfurt am Main and has been significantly involved in a large number of projects in urban planning, mobility and the design of public spaces, including a competition entry for the comprehensive redesign of Schweizer Platz in Frankfurt and a municipal mobility concept for the city of Tuttlingen. In Riyadh, he played a key role in a project for urban redevelopment and upgrading around numerous new metro stations and in London in the redesign of all streets and squares along a local transport corridor. The involvement of the people affected is always particularly important to Reck. He is also focusing on this topic in his new role for the city of Offenbach.

Over the past six years, he has been an Associate Partner at Albert Speer + Partner and led an international team. Internationality is also an aspect that has already particularly appealed to him in Frankfurt and now also in Offenbach. The decision was made to put the experience he had gained at the service of the public and the region.

"I was interested in the vacant position of Head of Office in Offenbach because I live in the immediate vicinity and have come to know and appreciate Offenbach. The city is developing very dynamically and has great potential. At the same time, decision-making processes are short and pragmatic solutions are required," says Reck about his move to the city of Offenbach. "The Office for Planning and Building has extensive tasks ranging from urban planning to building construction, for example the new Emmy Noether School, and the management of municipal buildings to the design of public spaces, such as the current project to redesign the Goethering. The work of the office is therefore fundamental to the development of the city and to the question of how the citizens of Offenbach will live and want to live in the future," says Reck.

Urban development is largely based on the objectives of the Master Plan 2030, which is to be updated after the municipal elections. "In particular, I see it as my task to further improve cooperation between the various disciplines, with the municipal companies and across departments. It is also important to me to drive forward digitalization in order to become more efficient and faster. The challenge is to achieve the maximum effect for the quality of life of Offenbach's residents in the current municipal budget situation. In doing so, it is important to me to further strengthen the personal responsibility and self-organization of employees, to communicate at eye level and to lead with openness and clarity."

In his private life, Ron Reck spends a lot of time cycling or walking in the mountains. He likes to travel, because "traveling educates", and is always enthusiastic about good food.
