Marketplace conversion: letterbox moves / start of tree felling

29.01.2018

This is what the market square looks like after the renovation - with new greenery, of course

The first measures in the run-up to the renovation will begin on Marktplatz: from February 5, 2018, Deutsche Post will be dismantling the letterbox in front of the "Koffer Roth" store at Marktplatz 14. The letterbox will be relocated to a new location on Berliner Straße near the S-Bahn next to the bicycle stands. The letterbox will be in its new location from 9 February 2018 at the latest.

On Saturday, February 10, 2018, trees will be felled on the market square as announced. This will affect three plane trees on the corner of Bieberer Straße, as well as a ginkgo in the south of the square and an elm tree in front of house number 5. The contracted company will fell the trees - the crowns and branches will be shredded directly on site and the trunks will be transported away. Some of the work causes noise in the morning. As a replacement, the city of Offenbach am Main is planting four elm trees of the Columella variety and three of the Rebon variety during the renovation work.

The tree grates will initially be temporarily closed with a water-bound covering so that nobody trips over them. From Monday, February 12, 2018, the removal of the lattice grates around the trees and the necessary adjustment work on the paving will begin. The work may take until Tuesday.
