As part of the market square conversion, construction work will begin on Monday, February 14, 2022, in the area of Marktplatz / corner of Bieberer Straße, which will mainly affect the sidewalk in front of the former "Depot" and current KODI market. An electricity line will be laid there by ENO. This work should be completed within a week. The following further sections are then planned:
Once the cables have been laid, the road will be closed, concreted and the new paving laid in the sidewalk area at the corner of Bieberer Straße in the direction of the Marktplatz parking garage (Q-Park). During the construction work, the sidewalk area in front of the KODI market will be closed to pedestrians.
To get from Waldstraße to Marktplatz, a temporary crosswalk for pedestrians will be set up at Waldstraße 6. If you park your vehicle in the Q-Park parking garage, you can still reach Wilhelmsplatz and the weekly market on foot via the Bieberer Straße exit.
During the construction work, customers can continue to shop in the KODI market, but only one entrance can be used. Pedestrians can reach the store directly from Waldstraße. Nothing will change for motorists, the weekly market will remain accessible via the existing detour route.
Several construction phases in February and March
Further construction phases will follow in February and March, such as civil engineering work for power lines, asphalt work, road concreting and paving work up to the connection area of the parking garage on the market square (Q-Park). More detailed information on this and the other construction phases will be announced in good time following the ongoing coordination with the construction companies.
