City of Offenbach

Concepts" event

22.05.2015 – On May 21, 2015, the event Masterplan Offenbach: Concepts in Port 2 took place with around 40 participants. For the first time, the event looked at specific potential areas in Offenbach where people could live and/or work in the future. The two detailed groups as well as experts specifically brought in discussed this together using selected map sections.

As the event was to focus on the actual areas for the first time, the planners from Albert Speer & Partner provided expert input on possible potential areas at the start of the event. The focus was on areas such as the Allessa site, the city center, the harbor district and Nordend. In addition to the potential areas, the planners also characterized the target groups and business types already known from the detailed groups.

Now it was time for the actual work. Following a brief orientation phase, the participants were first asked to assign possible target groups or business types to the previously presented potential areas. The question to be answered against this background was: Which target groups/business types could primarily be located in this area?

In some areas, it became clear that some areas are more suitable for certain target groups/business types than others.

Finding reasons why target groups settle here

In the second work phase, things became a little more concrete. On the one hand, the aim was to find reasons for the establishment of the business types/target groups and, on the other hand, to clarify which conditions still need to be created in the future in order to successfully establish the respective target group(s)/business type(s) in the specific area. Working with the maps provided by the planners resulted in a whole series of new and interesting approaches. At the same time, however, it also became clear which structures in Offenbach can already be built upon.

The planning office of Albert Speer & Partner will review and evaluate the results in order to prepare the next detailed group meetings.
