From Monday, November 17, the preparatory work for the expansion of the Main dyke in the city center will begin. Around 190 trees, including around 120 on the Deichkronenweg, will have to be felled for the work in spring 2026. For motorists on Mainstrasse, the work will again mean restrictions, but only in sections and temporarily. The carriageway will be narrowed to one lane at the height of the work. There are not expected to be any restrictions for drivers in the bus lane.
From Tuesday, November 18, up to and including Thursday, November 20, traffic will also be regulated by the city police due to the road-side felling work. There may therefore be temporary full road closures, but these will only last a few minutes and traffic will then be able to flow normally again.
For pedestrians, the footpath on the Main dyke will be fully closed in sections. The footpath and cycle path on the banks of the Main must be closed on one side at the height of the work. Appropriate signs will be posted. At the Innocampus, the cycle path must be fully closed. Further information will follow shortly.
Due to the creation of a storage area for the work, parking spaces on the Mainufer parking lot will no longer be available. In addition, parking spaces for trucks will be closed with no-stopping zones. However, the staircase and footpath at Herrnstraße will be kept open.
