Final expansion of public roads and sidewalks
Following the extended project resolution of February 12, 2026 and the status of the development that has now been reached, the final expansion of the public roads and sidewalks in the Bieber-Nord development area can now begin. The preparatory work required for this has been driven forward in recent months, meaning that the main construction work can begin once the tendering process has been completed and the contract awarded.
As part of the final expansion, the residential streets will be paved, while the collector roads (Adam-Marsch-Straße, Philipp-Ullrich-Straße and Willi-Bauer-Straße) will receive an asphalt surface course. In addition, the roadside greenery will be installed, the planned street trees planted and the final street lighting installed in Willi-Bauer-Straße. A footpath and cycle path will be created along the feeder road between the B 448 junction and Philip-Ullrich-Straße, which will be separated from the carriageway by a green strip planted with trees. This will complete the traffic and design of the development area.
Preparatory measures are currently underway, in particular surveying work. Property owners whose low kerbs have not yet been set to the heights planned for the final expansion will be contacted by the city in order to carry out the necessary adjustment work as soon as possible.
The construction work for the final extension will be carried out in a total of 18 construction phases. A total construction period of around 17 months is planned for this. A detailed schedule of the construction phases will be published on this website as soon as it is available after the contract has been awarded. During the respective construction phase, it will not be possible for the affected residents to access their properties directly by car during a certain, previously announced period. An area opposite Bieber school will be available as a temporary parking lot during the entire construction period.
During the construction phase, the contracted construction company will transport the waste containers and garbage cans across the construction site. These must be made available to the construction company at the site boundary in good time.
We would also like to draw your attention to the drainage regulations in force in the city of Offenbach. According to § 2 Para. 2, wastewater may only be discharged into the wastewater system via the designated outlets on your own property. Rainwater or surface water may not be discharged onto roads, sidewalks or into public spaces.

Background
On May 7, 2015, the municipal council resolved to develop the Bieber Nord construction area under public law. As a result, the necessary planning for the execution of the civil engineering work was pushed ahead so that the actual civil engineering work could begin with the ground-breaking ceremony on October 20, 2017. Prior to this, the areas had already been cleared and checked for the presence of explosive ordnance. The first sewers were laid in November 2017 and in spring 2018, the water supply association Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Offenbach (ZWO) began laying the drinking water pipeline at the same time as the sewers were being laid. The other pipeline routes were also gradually integrated into the work. All supply lines have now been laid and can be connected to the buildings via house connections.
The noise barriers are currently being erected. Work on the green corridor is expected to start in 2020. Final completion of the surfaces is not expected until 2022 at the earliest, once the development has progressed accordingly.
A total of three noise barriers will be built. The noise protection system towards the B 448 was completed in August 2019. The noise protection system on the Dietesheimer Straße bridge is currently being built. The construction of the noise barrier towards the S-Bahn will follow. A ZWO water pipe is currently being relocated here before construction work on the noise barrier can begin.
