AzubiConnect: First micro-project at the Waldzoo successfully completed

Since August 2025, the AzubiConnect project has complemented the transition management services offered by the city of Offenbach. It is all about connections and networking; specifically, AzubiConnect brings pupils together with small, local companies. The career-related micro-projects give young people an insight into job profiles and give companies the opportunity to fill vacant training places.

The first micro-project has now taken place in cooperation with the Edith-Stein-Schule, where seven ninth-graders got to know the team at the Offenbach Forest Zoo and were even able to take the practical part of their secondary school leaving certificate exam while protecting native wild animals at the forest zoo.

Both sides were accompanied by employees from AzubiConnect, who supported the young people in preparing for the practical exam and the employees of the forest zoo in the micro-project The young people made squirrel cages, as the round nests of squirrels are called, and a feeding box for raccoons in the Edith-Stein-Schule's workrooms under supervision. The cage has now been presented to the forest zoo, and the food box for the raccoons has been in use since mid-November.

Mayor Sabine Groß is delighted with the innovative and practical format: "The AzubiConnect project is an excellent example of how careers guidance can succeed in a practical and low-threshold way."

AzubiConnect enables practical exchanges and opens up new perspectives: school pupils can test their strengths in a real working environment while local companies get to know potential trainees - without obligation but in person.
