Workshop "Digital skills" and "Job application coaching"

Pupils in their final year at Mathildenschule Offenbach were able to put their IT skills to the test in an extracurricular setting and improve them at the same time. These skills are of great importance both for their school career and for their later professional life. The workshop was rounded off with job application coaching using the YouBot Plus application tool.

In the 2022/2023 school year, pupils will continue to benefit from the wide range of career guidance offered by the City of Offenbach's school-to-work transition management program. This time, Mathildenschule Offenbach was also involved as a new cooperation school with its students from all graduating classes.

PC skills more in demand than ever

As digitalization progresses, the professional world requires trainees to have digital skills more than ever before. Aside from the requirements of everyday working life, the importance of IT and MS Office knowledge and skills for the individual becomes clear when writing the report booklet. The MS Word office program is particularly in demand here for writing and formatting.

With this in mind, Mr. Salamida, a member of the "Targeted support for transitions" project, has designed a workshop in which young people can learn the most common and necessary functions and hacks

The perfect application for an apprenticeship

Even before they can start working, a successful search for an apprenticeship is essential as preparation for working life. This is where the Ticket in Ausbildung project staff come in with job application training.

In order to be able to convey the two pre-vocational contents to the young people in a compact way, the Mathildenschule agreed to release the pupils of all graduating classes for a project day in class. Ideally, the school's PC rooms could be used for the day of the event, which seemed almost without alternative in view of the class sizes.

Working on the PC: Easier than expected

From saving files to the various functions of a keyboard and setting up an automatic table of contents in MS Word: the pupils worked with great concentration on the various tasks under the guidance of the project team members. And with great success: what seemed challenging at the beginning turned out to be easier than expected and even a lot of fun.

The perfect application in just a few steps

Having honed their PC skills, they were then able to start creating their own application documents. The students learned about the possibilities and advantages of the application assistant YouBot plus from Ausbildungsverlag. In addition to automated text modules for CVs and cover letters, it provides a wide range of modern and professional layouts - ideal for standing out from the mass of applications.

Once the students had created their CVs and cover letters, they had the opportunity to try out typical recruitment test tasks. The eTrainer, another online tool from the provider Ausbildungspark Verlag, was ideal for this.

Feedback and a certificate of participation as a farewell gift

At the end of each successful day of the event, the participants received a certificate of attendance, which some would like to use for their application documents in the near future.

"I was able to learn a lot today and it was fun.", "It was easy to write the CV because you could just click through."

was the feedback of the day.
