Project description
QuABB (qualified training support) has been offered as part of the City of Offenbach's school-to-work transition management program since 2015. The aim of the project is to support trainees during their vocational training and prevent them from dropping out.
Starting an apprenticeship involves many changes: new rules in the company, different requirements at vocational school and more responsibility in everyday life. It is precisely at this stage of life that problems can arise in the company, difficulties at school or personal stress that can jeopardize the progress of the training.
This is precisely where QuABB comes in. Training support helps trainees to identify challenges at an early stage, clarify conflicts and develop solutions together - so that the training can be continued and completed successfully. The advice is confidential, free of charge and voluntary.
QuABB is funded in Offenbach by the state of Hesse and the European Union - European Social Fund (ESF) and is implemented at the Theodor-Heuss-Schule and the Käthe-Kollwitz-Schule.
Success figures
In the last funding period (July 2022 to June 2024), a total of 142 trainees in the city of Offenbach took advantage of the QuABB guidance service - including 37 male and 105 female participants. 116 of them were still in training after completing the guidance.
In the current funding period (July 2024 to June 2026), 107 trainees have used QuABB so far (as of October 6, 2025), 88 of them female and 19 male. So far, 68 consultations have been completed. 60 of these trainees are still in training at the end of the consultation.
Tasks and support services
The training support team advises, supports and accompanies trainees in all years of training in the event of
- Difficulties at the training company
- Difficulties at vocational school
- Difficulties in private areas
This also includes, for example, support
- with the processing of applications and forms
- if tutoring is to be organized to improve school performance
- if there is a feeling that the training relationship is about to end or should better end
- if situations or conflicts have arisen in the company, at school or in the private sphere that place a heavy burden on the continuation of the training relationship
Open consultation hours are offered by the training support team for this purpose. The advice provided by the training support service is confidential and free of charge for those seeking advice.
Target groups
The training support service is primarily aimed at trainees undergoing in-company training. However, trainers or responsible staff at the training company can also contact the training support service if they have any questions or difficulties. Parents of trainees also have the opportunity to contact the training support service.
All trainees who are currently vocational students at Offenbach vocational schools and who are not taking part in a subsidized, inter-company training program can take advantage of the advice provided by the training support service.
