Offenbach Education Conference: Unleashing potential with the orientation framework for educational development

Monday, November 20, 2023
13:30 - 17:30
vhs Offenbach, Berliner Straße 77, 63065 Offenbach
Room, 1st floor

The city of Offenbach wants to enable broad participation in education. For this reason, the "Orientation Framework for Educational Development in Offenbach am Main" was created in 2012. It presents the initial conditions, needs and challenges for education in Offenbach and lists options for action. It is not a detailed "educational program", but the basis for it - a framework for orientation.

The orientation framework will be reviewed after ten years. This was decided by the city councillors last year. As a first step, it was evaluated with the Offenbach Alliance for Education. This will now be followed by the education conference, which will make recommendations for the further development and updating of the orientation framework based on the evaluation results.

The conference will also focus on "potential-oriented promotion". This is because the evaluation identified potential orientation as a concept that should complement funding criteria such as migration background. How can potential orientation be defined and what does its implementation mean for professionals, educational institutions and for learners themselves?

We are looking forward to a broad participation in the conference: from educators from daycare centers, teachers from schools and extracurricular places of learning as well as adult education. We look forward to welcoming representatives from educational institutions and organizations, educational administration and education policy. Learners and users of educational programs are also cordially invited. You will all enrich the conference with your expertise and experience!

4th Offenbach Transition Conference

Cooperating in the social space - Strong networks for families at the transition from daycare to elementary school

Tuesday, July 05, 2022, 1:30 to 5:30 pm,
Town hall / city council meeting room
Berliner Straße 100

This event was aimed at professionals from Offenbach daycare centers and elementary school, as well as their cooperation partners.
During the pandemic, the cooperative relationships between daycare centers and elementary school could hardly be maintained and filled with life. Daycare centers and elementary school were closed at times and had reduced opening hours. As a result, the challenges in educational institutions have grown enormously. Daycare centers and elementary school need support in their social spaces to enable children and their families to make a good transition to school.
The focus of this transition conference was therefore also on exchange. Participants had the opportunity to meet, inform each other and share experiences. The framework for this was provided by social area-specific workshops in which participants met both direct colleagues and educational stakeholders from the wider neighborhood.
The focus was on good practice examples and experiences of cooperation in the neighbourhood - including with associations, neighbourhood centers and other organizations.

Educational landscape Offenbach in conversation - data in focus

Two online events

The new Offenbach Education and Training Report (EBO) was published in December 2021. It provides a wealth of educational data and highlights developments. So far, the results of the report have mainly been presented and discussed in political bodies, education committees and specialist circles. The two online discussions held by the vhs - Fachstelle Bildungskoordinierung und Beratung, on the other hand, were aimed at members of the public, who were invited to ask questions and take part in the discussion. Various educational topics were on the agenda. Detailed results of the municipal education monitoring can be found on the city's website at
