Educational landscape Offenbach in conversation - data in focus

Data on participation in education has been published and updated by the Offenbach education monitoring system since 2017. The "educational participation" indicator compares the educational participation of children and young people with and without a migration background and highlights disadvantages. Two of the indicator's ten comparisons were examined in more detail: late school enrolment and the transition to grammar school. Beatrice Ploch (second from left), responsible for municipal education monitoring, began by presenting the data. Alma Obradovac (Headmistress of Eichendorffschule) and Zijad Dolicanin (Vair e.V.; second from right) then discussed the significance of the data for practice. Participants asked their questions via chat or joined the discussion directly. The discussion was moderated by Kai Seibel, Head of the vhs Education Coordination and Advice Center.

Offenbach's education monitoring has been looking at data on school-leaving qualifications since 2005, as they set the course for a career or studies and form the basis for social participation. A successful degree opens up numerous opportunities for school leavers. On the other hand, it is clear that young people without qualifications or with a poor secondary school leaving certificate have little chance of finding a training position in their desired profession. Beatrice Ploch began by presenting the data on school-leaving qualifications. Afterwards, Salvatore Caruso (Headmaster of Edith-Stein-Schule, second from right) and Roberto Priore (Head of the Youth Welfare Office, second from left) discussed the significance of the data from a practical perspective and drew conclusions. Kai Seibel, Head of the vhs Education Coordination and Advice Center, moderated the discussion. One reason to be pleased: the proportion of school leavers without a secondary school leaving certificate is at a low level.
