AI, ChatGPT & Co. at school

AI-supported applications, including the creation of texts, images, music and videos, are currently the subject of intense public debate. Schools and teachers are faced with the challenge of dealing with these developments and their influence on teaching. How can these AI applications work? How can they be used sensibly in education and what legal framework conditions need to be observed?

telli: The AI chatbot for school

In the first half of the school year, the school AI chatbot telli will be available free of charge to all schools in Hesse via the Hesse school portal. It can be accessed conveniently via the VIDIS tile, supplemented by a self-learning course for an easy introduction. The AI chatbot supports teachers with lesson preparation, task management and teaching, as well as pupils with individual learning and the development of new content. Ease of use, practical functions and full data protection compliance are key features of telli.

AI ethics

The "10 Commandments of AI Ethics" booklet from klicksafe encourages pupils aged 12 and over to think about the influence of AI in our everyday lives. It contains real-life stories that were developed in collaboration with students from the Digital Ethics department at Stuttgart Media University. The publication was accompanied by an interview with Prof. Dr. Petra Grimm, Professor of Media Research and Communication Science, who was responsible for the content of the booklet as part of klicksafe.

AI and me. How artificial intelligence is shaping our lives

AI has long been part of everyday life for young people - whether chatbots, search engines or social media avatars. But alongside opportunities such as assistance in everyday life, there are risks: Deepfakes, false information, unrealistic beauty ideals and possible job losses.

The new teaching material from klicksafe and FSM encourages children in year 7 and above to take a critical look at AI and develop their own points of view.

"Compass AI" podcast shows teachers the way through the AI jungle

In the "Compass AI" podcast, teacher Hendrik Haverkamp and educational psychologist Benedikt Wisniewski help teachers to find their way through the dense AI jungle - an area that many find confusing, difficult to penetrate and constantly changing. Instead of relying on headlines or abbreviated cheerleading, the two provide well-founded monthly assessments of current AI studies and show the way forward.

In doing so, they focus on key questions: Do AI tools reduce critical thinking? Can artificial intelligence really be creative? And how do we deal with cheating in the age of ChatGPT, Gemini and CoPilot?

Haverkamp and Wisniewski critically analyze studies, discuss opportunities and limitations and evaluate what the results mean in concrete terms for teaching. The compact format (approx. 17 minutes) and unsparing honesty make the podcast a valuable compass for anyone who doesn't want to get lost in the AI jungle.
