There was a large crowd at the 60th anniversary of the Fröbel School. Pupils, parents and teachers celebrated the 60th birthday of the special school together with the school management. Head of Education Paul-Gerhard Weiß welcomed those present last Friday, May 23. Weiß emphasized the lively school community and was delighted to see a school that is full of life, not least thanks to the range of activities on offer outside and in the indoor swimming pool. "The number of pupils at special schools will grow significantly. As a city, we have to work on placing all pupils in suitable schools and external and cooperative classes," emphasized Weiß. He thanked the parents who are involved in the support association. "Transportation with the school buses is now working well," Weiß continued.

Currently, 160 children attend the Fröbelschule. There are 18 classes with an average of eight pupils. 16 children learn in external classes at the Erich Kästner School and the Bieber School at the Bieber Nord site. In the next school year, the school community will grow to a total of 190 pupils. This will require six external and cooperation classes.

The dance group "Let's go", a partnership project between Fröbelschule and Leibnizschule, performed a dance. Afterwards, the children of the judo club impressed with a demonstration. There were face painting and games for guests and children. Visitors could purchase ceramic bowls and cups for a donation at the pottery club's stand. A wheelchair course on the small sports field offered challenges, while sandwiches, coffee and cake provided refreshments.
