School transportation costs
Important information for all parents regarding the change from Year 4 to
secondary school to year 5.
Reimbursement of school transportation costs
Your child has successfully completed elementary school.
You and your child are now faced with the question of which secondary school to attend.
Consultations with the schools will take place or have already taken place. Recommendations have been made to set the course for a good school leaving certificate.
At this point in your decision, the Offenbach School Board would like to draw your attention to the fact that recommendations from teachers, school management or the responsible state school board do not automatically mean that the school transport costs will be covered.
The assumption of school transport costs is only decided according to the Hessian School Act, § 161:
Reimbursement of school transportation costs will only be made if:
- you have registered your child at the nearest school of the chosen type of school (integrated comprehensive school, grammar school) as a "first choice"
have - this school is more than three kilometers away on foot. If your application for admission is rejected by the nearest school of the chosen type of school, we will check whether the school transport costs to the forwarded school can be reimbursed.
The law on the assumption of school transport costs does not take into account any special offers made by a school when making a decision. Examples of when the costs of transportation to a school further away are not covered:
- because, for example, a sibling already attends that school,
- it allows the choice of a second foreign language or all-day classes, childcare at school, music or sports classes
- ideological and religious characteristics are different there
