New playgrounds are being built in Offenbach

Playgrounds are very important for children. They can learn there how to move around and how to interact with other children and adults.
The city of Offenbach continues to grow, which is why not only are playgrounds being improved and repaired, but new playgrounds and "Bolzplätze" (public sports fields) are also being built. For example, two meadows with play areas are currently being built in Bieber-Nord and Waldheim-Süd.
The construction of a children's playground on Heusenstammer Weg will also begin this year.
Playgrounds that already exist will also be gradually modernized. This work is being carried out according to a specific plan, but because more people are now working on it than before, new ideas can also be implemented or urgent repairs can be brought forward.
Over the next few years, the number of playgrounds is to increase from 60 to 71. In addition, the facilities are to become more diverse and inclusive so that children of different ages and genders can spend time there.
Paul-Gerhard Weiß from the City of Offenbach says that the coronavirus pandemic has shown just how important public spaces are. Because when sporting events are canceled and many buildings are closed, many people meet in parks and public spaces.
The city wants to adapt to this more in the future, for example with public fitness equipment. There should also be movable play equipment that can be set up wherever there is a need. That way, there will be fewer conflicts with residents because the play equipment won't be in one place all the time.
