Citizens' Medal for Rainer Marx

Rainer Marx was honored for his commitment and voluntary work. He helps people with disabilities with problems. He does this in his free time. The city of Offenbach am Main has awarded him a medal for citizens and a certificate.

Mayor Sabine Groß presented him with the medal in the town hall. She thanked Rainer Marx for his activities and for taking so much time for them.

She praised him for never stopping to help other people and for founding a self-help group. People with the same illness or disability meet in a self-help group. There they can talk about their problems with the illness or disability. In this way, the members of the self-help group can help each other.

Rainer Marx himself had a stroke of fate: after a serious motorcycle accident, he had pain that would not go away. That's why he founded a self-help group in 1998. He is now an expert on the subject and is well-known throughout Germany. He has written a guidebook and is regularly invited to give talks. Rainer Marx has also been chairman of the community of self-help groups in the field of health in the city and district of Offenbach since 2004.

Rainer Marx has also been on the board of the Disability Advisory Council since 2014. This means that he is the head of the Disability Advisory Council. The Disability Advisory Council advises the administration and politicians. It deals with the topic of how people with disabilities can live better in the city of Offenbach.
