Inclusion Action Day on May 4 at Aliceplatz
27.04.2024
On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the Inclusion Action Day will take place on Aliceplatz in Offenbach. It has been held throughout Europe for over 30 years. On this day, there are campaigns and events in many cities in Germany. Clubs and associations draw attention to the rights of people with disabilities. And, above all, about the problems these people face in everyday life. For example, too few children with disabilities are taught in schools alongside children without disabilities. People with disabilities work in special workshops and live together in special homes. However, they should have the right to work and live anywhere.
May 4th is therefore also a day of protest. On this day, all citizens should support people with disabilities in standing up for their rights.
On this day, there will be information about the rights of people with disabilities. Visitors also learn that there are many barriers for people with disabilities. Barrier is another word for obstacle. Barriers can be stairs or steps. But also complicated texts. A difficult text is a barrier for people who have difficulty reading.
The action day runs from 1 to 6 p.m. on May 4. Martin Wilhelm is a politician from the city of Offenbach. He will open the day in front of the KOMM shopping center on Aliceplatz. The day will also feature music by people with and without disabilities.
Associations and organizations providing help and self-help for the disabled will provide information about self-help, care and disability. There will also be face painting for children, games and handicrafts and rickshaw rides. There will be dancing at the end: at 5 p.m., a Zumba dance group will perform their dance and everyone can join in.
