From school to work: support for young people

24.08.2024

The City of Offenbach has a department called "school-to-work transition management". Management is an English word and means leadership. Transition school-work means the time between school and work. The department supports young people who have finished school or are about to finish. And now want to learn a profession.

Some projects have been around for a long time. For example, groups in which young people can learn or practise job applications. The young people are also supported during their training. Two new projects are now starting. The first new project is for pupils at schools in Offenbach who are finishing school. There are various offers for them. They receive help with job applications. They practise job interviews. There is information about careers. Young people and their parents can also get individual advice.

The second project is for young people from other countries who are new to Offenbach. They can learn German in the project. They need the German language for an apprenticeship, an internship or a job. The German lessons take place twice a week. They also visit training companies and can do internships. This enables them to get to know new professions and make new contacts. They also receive help with job applications. The aim of the project is to make it easier for the young people to settle in Offenbach and find a job or apprenticeship. There are also excursions and activities. The young people are between 16 and 26 years old and come from different countries. For example, from Ukraine, Bulgaria and Pakistan. They can take part in the project for up to 12 months.

It is not easy to switch from school to work. Any help is very important. Information can be obtained by e-mail at: uebergangsmanagementoffenbachde
