Story café in the Mathildenviertel

16.05.2026

A popular offer is coming to a new neighborhood: The Story Café starts on April 14 in the Mathildenviertel district office. It takes place every second Tuesday.

It used to be held in the children's library. Now it is closer to the everyday lives of many families, as many families live in the Mathildenviertel.

The story café is particularly aimed at parents who find reading and writing difficult. However, all families are welcome and the focus is on stories. Parents and children read together or listen. They laugh, discover new things and spend time together. There are simple creative activities. For example, there are little games, rhymes or painting. You can also make up your own stories.

Cat* Patiño Lang says: "It's not about perfection. The important thing is spending time together with stories. Cat* Patiño Lang is project manager of the Offenbach Basic Education Center at the adult education center.

Julia Wahl is head of the Mathildenviertel district office. She also emphasizes that reading should be fun - without pressure.

The Offenbach Basic Education Center supports adults in reading, writing and arithmetic. Many people have difficulties with this.

The district office is a meeting place. People can come together here and exchange ideas. That's why the story café fits in well with the district office.

The next dates are: 26.05., 09.06., 23.06.

Location: Mathildenviertel district office, Krafftstraße 29

Anyone interested is invited to take part.
