The core tasks of the Digitalization Stabsstelle are to digitalize the city administration and pave the way for Offenbach to become a smart city. The Stabsstelle heads the Digitalization Working Group, in which managers and specialists from various municipal offices and from the municipal utilities work together on concepts. The resulting projects are to be implemented with funding from the state and federal government, for which the Digitalization Stabsstelle is applying. A prerequisite for many aspects of the digital city is the topic of gigabit and fiber optic expansion, which is being managed by the Stabsstelle together with the Economic Development Department and the Building Department.
Digitization of the administration
The digitalization of the administration encompasses several aspects. Externally, the most important thing for citizens is how the digitalization of the administration affects their direct interaction with the administration: Can appointments be made online, can applications and payments be made online without media discontinuity? If online services are available, are they accessible and user-friendly? Internally, the aim is to examine all of the city administration's processes to see whether and how they can be made more efficient, user-friendly and better through digitalization. This applies to processes within the departments as well as the exchange between departments. It is also about testing new forms of collaboration and opening our eyes to other approaches and methods.
