Women's power for the economy: MainArbeit. Municipal job center Offenbach focuses on targeted support for women
04.05.2026
The targeted promotion of female employment potential is a key driver for securing skilled workers and a sustainable economy. The municipal job center MainArbeit in Offenbach follows this credo and actively supports women on their way into the job market. The importance of this commitment was recently impressively confirmed at a labor market policy symposium of the municipal job centers in Hesse in Groß-Gerau.
Hesse's Minister of Social Affairs, Heike Hofmann, emphasized the urgency of utilizing all potential in view of the shortage of skilled workers and specifically improving the employment opportunities of unemployed women. For the City of Offenbach am Main, Head of Social Affairs Martin Wilhelm emphasized the importance from a municipal perspective: "The targeted promotion of women on the job market is not only a question of social justice for Offenbach, but also a decisive investment in our economic future. MainArbeit makes an indispensable contribution to this with its innovative and needs-based programs."
MainArbeit: Projects that integrate
MainArbeit is comprehensively committed to the integration of women into the labor market and relies on a wide range of individual measures. "We have successfully integrated numerous women into employment subject to social insurance contributions, opening up new career prospects for them. These successes reflect our needs-based and individual approach, which is made possible by our data-based management and regional expertise," says Joachim Rumpf, Head of Division at MainArbeit.
One successful example is the "LEA" (Learning, Developing, Tackling) project. It empowers women with secure childcare through intensive coaching, workshops and practical work experience. The focus is on developing social skills, strengthening personal resources and reconciling family and career. The importance of this support is demonstrated by the experience of a former participant: "Thanks to LEA, I found the courage and support to present myself confidently on the job market. Today I'm finally working in my dream job as a school support worker, a step I wouldn't have been able to take on my own."
In addition to LEA, MainArbeit offers a wide range of other projects in Offenbach in cooperation with various providers. These are aimed at parents, women and women with a migration background and include profiling, job application training and skills development. Special attention is always paid to the compatibility of career and family, which is why many cooperation projects offer on-site childcare or corresponding support.
Impetus for the future - job centers as trailblazers
MainArbeit will continue to provide women with comprehensive support in the future, for example with a low-threshold measure starting in May 2026 to help them combine family, childcare and gainful employment. Municipal job centers like MainArbeit see themselves as modern service providers that develop tailor-made solutions for everyone.
Martin Wilhelm affirms: "Women have the desire to work and can achieve a lot in their professional lives with their talents and skills. It is essential to continue to support them in finding employment, as this contributes significantly to the revitalization of the regional economy."
