Comfort and dignity for the last phase of life

Palliative care is required for people with serious illnesses where a cure is impossible. The focus is no longer on healing and prolonging life, but on maintaining and creating the best possible quality of life. This requires human care, the alleviation of pain and other symptoms, right through to end-of-life care. The individual providers of care services ensure that those affected, their relatives and friends can access help and support during this stressful, often crisis-ridden time.

Palliative hotline

The care of patients at the end of their lives requires special expertise and multi-professional care. This is guaranteed on palliative care wards, in hospices and also by outpatient palliative care teams.

It is often difficult for patients, relatives, but also for nursing staff and doctors to assess how and when the patient should best receive palliative care. There is also often a lack of information about where palliative care services and inpatient beds exist in the city and district of Offenbach or the surrounding area, what access to palliative and hospice care looks like or what care services can be provided.

This palliative care hotline was therefore set up to provide better information. The central telephone number is located at the Sana Klinikum Offenbach and is staffed by a regional coordinator (doctor or nurse) with the additional qualification "Palliative Care" and is available on working days from 10:00 to 16:00.

The hotline also coordinates outpatient palliative care in the region and provides information on free bed capacities in the palliative care units and hospices.

By arrangement, advice can also be provided in the following foreign languages:

English, Italian, Turkish, Croatian, Polish, Portuguese, Greek, Russian, Serbian, Romanian.
