City of Offenbach

The volunteering landscape in Offenbach is diverse

Volunteering has an impact and contributes to good coexistence in Offenbach. And there are many opportunities for volunteering in Offenbach. Be it in an organization, at a school, in a club, in an independent initiative or in a church. Sometimes you have to feel your way into volunteering, because the chemistry in the team always plays an important role.

For example, would you like to support children or young people, promote their language acquisition or help them find an apprenticeship? Here you have the opportunity to get involved in a sponsorship or as a learning mentor for newly arrived children in schools. In most fields of activity with children or young people, a somewhat longer-term commitment is desired.

Senior citizens in institutions are always happy to receive visitors and people who bring variety to their day. You can also get involved in a mothers' tandem or as a sponsor grandparent.

Working in nature is relaxing and meaningful

Are you interested in digital technology and computers? Then perhaps the Digital Retro Park e. V. is a good field of activity for you. Or do you love crafting and sewing? The Elmar Theater Club is always looking for committed people to sew costumes and help with set construction. Malteser International is looking for volunteers to help with the "Malteser Medicine for People without Health Insurance (MMM)" project. Active or former doctors, nurses and paramedics are needed here. The Nabu (nature conservation association) has a local group in Mühlheim/Offenbach. There you can get involved in many areas (wildflower meadow, insect hotel, amphibian protection, looking after a fruit tree sponsorship plot, photography/texting, landscape conservation, etc.). You don't have your own garden, but you love watering, plucking and planting? Then you can let off steam in various gardening projects.

Maybe "Alle Neune" is your hobby too! Blind and visually impaired people from the Offenbach Sports Association for the Disabled are happy to receive support for bowling together. If you like cycling, you can get involved with the Tandemclub Offenbach e. V. - as the pilot of a tandem, you ride a bike together with blind or visually impaired people. Between October and mid-April, the bike is packed away and the group goes for a hike.
The youth art school is happy to provide support for semester courses, vacation courses, workshops and children's birthday parties.

If you speak a foreign language (Turkish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Arabic etc.), you could work as a language mediator at the City of Offenbach's education office or at ProFamilia. Many people find the help with forms at Caritas or Diakonie very helpful. Volunteers help with filling out the often very complicated forms.

In Offenbach, as everywhere in Germany, the club landscape is colorful and very diverse. There are over 360 clubs in this city, including cultural and sports clubs, children's and youth groups, migrant organizations and nature associations. We are always looking for committed people for board work and youth work/youth coaches. However, if you don't feel up to it or don't have the time, you can certainly help with club festivals, setting up and dismantling exhibitions, maintaining the homepage, driving services, etc.

There are also numerous independent initiatives/associations in Offenbach that are active in areas such as urban development, gardening or food rescue. Here are just a few examples: Initiative Hauptbahnhof Offenbach, Stadtbiotop Offenbach, Essbare Stadt or Foodsharing (food rescue).

As you can see, there are many different ways to get involved on a voluntary basis to make our city and our coexistence a little better.

The City of Offenbach supports citizens in their voluntary work and is aware of the importance of this voluntary work. The city's volunteer officer, Manuel Dieter, is the contact person for the voluntary work of Offenbach's citizens. He sees himself as a contact point for associations, organizations, groups, institutions and individuals who are involved in voluntary work in our society. It acts as an intermediary for the administration and also provides advice on issues relating to the founding of associations.

The Volunteer Center (FzOF) is the central point of contact in the city for the direct placement of volunteers. The FzOF also has its own volunteer projects and advises organizations on topics such as volunteer management, insurance, framework conditions for volunteering and Social Day.

You can either browse the databases in the "Search for volunteering" article here on the website - you are also welcome to arrange a free consultation for volunteering. To do so, please contact the Volunteer Center at infofzofde or call the Volunteer Center at 069-82367039.
