Fun at the hands-on workshop

Last Saturday (October 15), over 100 people came together at eleven locations in the city to volunteer in various ways for Offenbach as part of the "Engagierte Stadt Offenbach" project. Experienced volunteers from various organizations were joined by newcomers to make a difference together. Among other things, the Uffräumer were out and about in Nordend cleaning up a playground. Planting and painting activities took place around the Lauterborn neighborhood office. The Frauen für Offenbach (Women for Offenbach) were happy to help with the development and cleaning of the barefoot path on the Caritas grounds. Children received support with handicrafts, whether from the Kania puppet theater with the creation of wonderful figures or from the children's and youth parliament with the construction of an Offenbach city play box. The Repair Café in the W58 multi-generation house was happy to welcome more tinkerers to repair small electrical appliances. On Goetheplatz, the integration guides had set up a bicycle course and helped beginners to ride bicycles and practice the rules of the road. The drumming workshop at the KJK Sandgasse was a little louder. The wagon on the cultural track of the Soziale Plastik association was also cleared and cleaned. The volunteer center was out and about in the city center to map accessibility. This is a project that can still be expanded and further activities will follow.

The City of Offenbach's Volunteering Officer, Manuel Dieter, was pleased with the response and the results. "You could feel the fun of the joint campaign everywhere and the joy of being able to make a difference even with small activities." Even though the weather was better than forecast, the 100 participants were given packed lunches as a small thank you for their commitment instead of the previously planned closing party.
