New project of the volunteer center: Meeting islands

04.03.2024

The volunteer center is kicking off spring with a new project - the meeting islands. The project kicks off on Thursday, March 7 from 4 p.m. at the Märktchen on Goetheplatz. Interested and curious people can sit down on eye-catching orange boxes and get into conversation with each other.

The meeting islands are all about joining in, having a say, helping to shape things and discovering common ground - in short: living well together in Offenbach. That's why the meeting islands will also be appearing in other locations from the end of March, offering the opportunity to exchange ideas.

Project manager Lars Flagg is looking forward to welcoming volunteers who would like to help organize the meeting islands at various locations in the city and also lend a hand. "I am sure that we will have good conversations together, organize great activities and feel more at home in Offenbach. After all, people who know each other say hello!"

The project is supported by Stiftung Mitarbeit and Stiftung Mercator. Sigrid Jacob, Managing Director of the Volunteer Center, is proud that the project outline was one of the 15 projects selected from more than 500 applications. "The people of Offenbach will help decide what actually becomes of the meeting islands over the next two years."
