The celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Offenbach Gymnastics Club of 1824 provided the perfect setting for a very special honor. After a welcoming address at the start of the celebrations, Lord Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke presented the "Honorary Letter of the State of Hesse" to long-time member of the club, Lutz Elsässer. Schwenke thanked the honoree for 65 years of club membership and his voluntary work: "For decades, you have spent a great deal of time performing your various duties for the club. The association has already thanked you for this with its awards. Today we, the city of Offenbach am Main and the state of Hesse, say thank you! Together with Minister of State Hofmann, I am delighted to present Lutz Elsässer with the 'Letter of Honor of the State of Hesse' today."
Lutz Elsässer has been a member of TVO since the day he was born. His love of music was instilled in him by his parents. He took over the management of the choir department from Erich Wegel in 2008. Since then, he has organized all of the choir's festivals and excursions. He has been looking after the archive since 2018. "That sounds like a very challenging but also exciting task, given the association's 200-year history," emphasized the mayor. Lutz Elsässer has also been a member of the association's board since 1987. He is press officer and public relations officer. He is also active on the festival committee and helps with the maintenance of the TVO's older buildings wherever he can.
