Can you do Offenbach? EKO Campaign 2024

In its latest campaign, the Eigenbetrieb Kindertagesstätten Offenbach (EKO) lets its own educators have their say. They talk about their day-to-day work in the city's daycare centers and explain why their job and working with the children in the facilities mean so much to them. The EKO will be releasing five video clips over the next few weeks. From October 4, 2024, these will gradually be shown on the city's social media channels over a period of two weeks. The campaign is entitled: "Can you do Offenbach?"

Mayor Sabine Groß is convinced: "No one can talk more authentically about their own work than employees themselves. The enthusiasm that comes across in the videos will hopefully spark the interest of potential new employees and reinforce the importance and impact of their work for our daycare professionals."

Susanne Kaludra, who took up her position as operations manager at the company in July 2024, is delighted with how enthusiastic the nursery teachers are about their work in the EKO daycare centers: "It is also very enriching for me personally in my day-to-day work to see how our specialists show their motivation and enthusiasm for their work with children and their families in these clips. I also see this as a clear challenge for us as a company. We don't just want to recruit new specialists, we also don't want to lose the ones we already have, we want to strengthen and support them."

The clips, each 1-2 minutes long, introduce five professionals, from educators to daycare center managers, who answer the question: "What is it like to work at the EKO?" The answers are as varied as the professionals themselves, some of whom have been working at the EKO for a few years and others for 20 years: For me, the EKO is a place of many cultures. The EKO means personal development. The EKO stands for respect. There are lifelong encounters at the EKO. The EKO means adventure.

Can you do Offenbach?

The EKO campaign to recruit specialists is entitled "Can you do Offenbach?". This alludes to the special needs of Offenbach and the associated skills and attitudes that educators in Offenbach's municipal daycare centers must bring with them. Anyone working in a daycare center in Offenbach must have certain values such as openness and the desire to deal with different lifestyles, or be willing to learn about them.

A major focus of work at the EKO is diversity and a sense of community among families in this rapidly growing city. Over 60% of people in Offenbach have international biographies or a migration background. The diversity of the life situations of children and their families characterizes the interaction here and also reflects the work in the daycare centers. Accordingly, social skills are in high demand among the specialists at the EKO, especially in the intercultural field, but of course also beyond that.

The first of the five clips will be published on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube on October 4 and the last on October 17, 2024. If you don't want to miss these video clips, it's worth following the city's social media channels:

The clips will be accompanied by advertising on public transport and on City Light posters throughout Offenbach. Postcards and posters will also be displayed at selected locations in Offenbach and beyond. The advertising project was photographed and filmed jointly by David Straßburger and Marvin Fuchs, both photographers from Offenbach.
