Final singing of the pre-school children of the municipal daycare centers
18.07.2022
The Eigenbetrieb Kindertagesstätten Offenbach (EKO) is currently running a special project for children who are in their last year of nursery school and will be attending school after the summer vacations. With the Offenbach am Main e.V. music school, the EKO was able to gain a predestined and long-standing cooperation partner for the conception and implementation of the project.
The past two and a half years have been heavily influenced by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, meaning that the children have not been able to experience many of the fun and games that characterize everyday life at the EKO daycare centers. This also included singing and dancing together, getting to know instruments and being able to show off what they had learned. The EKO and the Offenbach music school have therefore developed the "Musikzug" project for these children to offer them a little compensation.
Under the motto "The music train stops off at your daycare center!", four instructors from the music school initially visited the children in their daycare centers starting in March. Over the course of four days, the children learned about the world of tones and sounds using tonewoods, sang, laughed, danced and rehearsed a song together that describes their journey from nursery to school.
From June, the children and their nursery went on a trip to the Musikmobil, a yellow 18-metre truck that was available as a mobile classroom in public places and had the most important instruments on board to get to know, such as piano, guitar, violin/cello, flute, cajon/drums.
Finally, the several hundred children, spread over the two days, July 20 and 21, meet at 4 p.m., sing their summer song together in a big choir on the children's and youth farm, explore the facilities there and enjoy an ice cream at the ice cream van.
Roberto Priore, operations manager of the EKO, and music school director Catherine Veillerobe are, like the children and their teachers, delighted with the activities so far and are already looking forward to the big celebratory final concerts on Wednesday and Thursday. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
