As part of Offenbach's Cleanliness Days from August 28 to 31, around 20 children from the Mathildenstraße daycare center (Kita 4) joined forces with the Mathildenviertel neighbourhood management team to take a close look at the cleanliness of their playgrounds.
Since the beginning of the year, the Mathildenstraße daycare center has been out and about in its neighborhood every morning with its "neighborhood explorers" group. They playfully explore their living environment, discover the world of the Mathildenviertel and conquer play and learning spaces outside the daycare center. As part of Offenbach's Cleanliness Week, the young explorers focused on the topic of cleanliness. Together with neighborhood manager Julia Wahl, the 20 or so children set off from Mathildenplatz to inspect the playgrounds in the neighborhood.
Once there, the "district researchers" and the Mathildenviertel district management team got straight down to work and cleared two playgrounds in the district (Quartierspark and the playground at the cemetery) of any garbage lying around. The children were not idle on the way either. They marked chewing gum and other garbage on the street with chalk to draw the attention of passers-by to the daily littering. "Seeing the neighborhood through the eyes of children always brings new and exciting perspectives," says Julia Wahl.
