City of Offenbach

"Orange Your City!" Offenbach shows its colors against violence against women

Every year from November 25 to December 10, buildings around the world light up in orange to draw attention to violence against women. Offenbach also takes part in the campaign with illuminations, events and hands-on activities.

Why the color orange?

The campaign was launched by UN Women, the women's organization of the United Nations.

The color orange stands for a bright future, free from violence - a sign of hope and change.

By illuminating public buildings and other campaigns, it is made visible worldwide: violence against women is not a private problem, but a social problem that affects society as a whole.

How is Offenbach setting an example?

Every year, various institutions, initiatives and committed people in Offenbach take part in "Orange Your City". The campaigns include

  • Illumination campaigns on public buildings and landmarks
  • Placement of banners in central locations with the message "Stop violence against women"
  • Information events, lectures and workshops on prevention and support
  • campaigns
  • Art and cultural projects
  • Vigils and memorial actions
  • Participatory campaigns that actively involve citizens

How can you take part?

Participation in "Orange Your City" can look very different - every action counts! You too can set an example, for example:

  • Wear orange on November 25 to show your solidarity.
  • Share posts and pictures with #OrangeYourCity on social media.
  • Attend events as part of the action days and find out more about the topic.
  • Encourage people to light up buildings in orange or put up banners, for example at your place of work, in a club center or in other public places.
