Local Agenda 21 Offenbach wins the 2026 Integration Award
Local Agenda 21 (LA21) Offenbach was unanimously selected by the jury as the winner of the 2026 Integration Award for its pioneering project "Paten für KindergartenKinder - Jugendliche fördern Kinder". Initiated in 2001, the program has been promoting language skills, intercultural exchange and civic engagement in a unique way for over two decades.
"The 'Paten für KindergartenKinder' project is an outstanding example of integration in action and civic engagement in our city," explains Martin Wilhelm, Head of Social Affairs and jury chairman. "It shows impressively how personal encounters and building trust can build important bridges and lay crucial foundations for the future of our youngest citizens. The cross-generational impact, the sustainable successes and the authentic help for self-help deeply convinced the jury. This award is recognition for an initiative that has a lasting impact on Offenbach."
The award winner was selected by a jury consisting of representatives from central Offenbach institutions and civil society. The members included Stephan Färber, head of the city council, Martin Wilhelm, head of the integration department and chairman of the jury, Abdelkader Rafoud, chairman of the advisory board for foreigners, as well as representatives of the Protestant city deanery in Frankfurt and Offenbach, the Catholic Church - pastoral area Offenbach, the Offenbach Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Offenbach Sports Association, the Offenbach School Principals' Interest Group, the Jewish Community of Offenbach, the German Trade Union Federation, the mosque communities, the Municipal Women's Representative, the Municipal Integration Representative as well as journalists and the press.
