Diversity Day: Diversity skills in the city administration

05.06.2025

May 27 is Diversity Day - a nationwide day of action that highlights diversity in society and the world of work. In Offenbach, however, diversity is far more than just a buzzword: it is a living reality - in the cityscape as well as in the day-to-day work of the city administration and its own companies.

As a reflection of a diverse urban society, the administration sees it as its responsibility not only to promote diversity, but to actively help shape it. This is why the Offenbach city administration used May 27 for the first time as a digital "Diversity Impulse Day" for all employees. The impulse day strengthened knowledge and sensitivity in dealing with diversity and offered the opportunity to deal intensively with various dimensions of the topic.

Interested employees were able to take part in six interactive online presentations dealing with different aspects of diversity - including gender, inclusion, discrimination and racism, age, neurodiversity and simple language. The events were deliberately designed to be low-threshold - participation in individual or several lectures was possible, even spontaneously.

The Diversity Impulse Day met with a great response and was used by numerous employees to expand their knowledge, learn about new perspectives and promote internal exchange. The City of Offenbach is delighted with the success of the day and sees it as an important step towards making the topic of diversity and its many facets even more visible, not only within the administration but also in the context of society as a whole.
