WIR Diversity Center launches "diversity to go" series

09.12.2022 – The tasks of the WIR Diversity Center are to promote integration and participation processes and to shape diversity in the city of Offenbach. But how do you shape diversity? In Offenbach, one way is with the new "diversity to go" series of events, which WIR coordinators Pia Kraft and Simone Lechner have launched.

Head of Integration Martin Wilhelm is delighted with the new format: "Offenbach is a city of immigration. People from all over the world arrive here and find a new home. That's why it's our job to communicate rules, content and messages to people in an understandable way. This is the only way to ensure that we don't exclude anyone and lay the foundations for integration."

"diversity to go" bundles events in which the topic of diversity is dealt with in very different areas with the help of qualified speakers. This is done in an uncomplicated way, as the content is prepared and communicated in a compact and practical way. The events are therefore not only about opening up perspectives on the topic of diversity or acquiring new knowledge and skills, but also about very specific ideas on how diversity aspects can be practically implemented in one's own work. The target group is full-time employees of the city administration and institutions in which structural change and opening processes are to be initiated.

The "diversity to go" series kicked off at the end of November with the workshop "Textwerkstatt: Writing beautifully and comprehensibly for all" with speaker Dr. Mansour Neubauer. In the knowledge that administrative language is often very unwieldy in its expression, the workshop was aimed at all editors who write texts for the city's website in their respective offices. In the workshop, Dr. Neubauer conveyed various basic rules on how content can be communicated clearly and in a way that is understandable, linguistically correct and aesthetically pleasing for Offenbach's diverse population. The participants were able to put the basic rules presented directly into practice in various exercises.

As the workshop was fully booked after a short time, a repeat is planned for the new year.
