The Israel-Palestine conflict: learning to talk about it

19.03.2025 – The Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent war in the Middle East is a hot topic worldwide. The discussion is also tense in Germany. How to talk about the conflict without further inflaming the heated atmosphere is a challenge for many. The question "How to talk about Israel-Palestine?" was therefore the title of the latest workshop in the diversity to go series of the Offenbach WIR Diversity Center.

The workshop took place under the guidance of the Anne Frank Educational Center.

It is difficult to talk about the Israel-Palestine conflict. First of all, it is the complexity of the conflict that makes it difficult to understand the situation. But there are also a whole range of views and interpretations that trigger emotions and are irreconcilably opposed to each other. When these worlds collide - at work, in a club or at school - it is often challenging for those responsible to deal with them. How can disputes be depolarized? How can you de-escalate the situation yourself?

In a workshop held by the WIR-Vielfaltszentrum, speakers from the Anne Frank Educational Center provided in-depth information on the conflict and worked with participants on approaches and strategies to support a respectful discussion. It was primarily aimed at people who work with young people.

The diversity to go series of 3 to 4-hour workshops provides practical tips on how to design work processes in a diversity-conscious way. This also includes dealing professionally with different life realities.
