Paul Gerhardt Parish
In 1956, construction work began on a new community center at Lortzingstraße 10. At the same time, a staff house was built at Haydnstraße 37 and the rectory at Lortzingstraße 8. The community center was officially opened on September 3, 1957.
In 1976 and 1977, the worship room was extensively renovated and modernized. This was followed two years later by the renovation of the other community rooms.
In 1986, the congregation received bells, which rang out for the first time at the Christmas Eve service. The bells were cast in the renowned Rincker foundry. The inscriptions are taken from hymns by Paul Gerhardt: "You are my father, I am your child", and "Make room for me in your spirit" and "I am a guest on earth".
In 1992, a new organ from the Kienle company in Heimerdingen was put into service. Old organ pipes from the Protestant church in Muschenheim were recycled.
Paul-Gerhardt-Haus of the Mirjamgemeinde
The Paul-Gerhardt-Haus of the Protestant Mirjamgemeinde is particularly committed to the development opportunities of young people throughout the city. It is the central place in the Mirjamgemeinde for children and young people to live and learn together with adults of all ages.
The Paul-Gerhardt-Haus sees itself as an open place that does not ask for denominational affiliation, but encourages and enables all people to live out the dignity God has given them and, as a "mature community", to exercise the priesthood of all believers emphasized by the Reformers and reawakened by the congregations of the Confessing Church. Voluntary activities from the district have a place here, as do controversial social issues. The Paul-Gerhardt-Haus is open to a variety of forms of worship.
