City of Offenbach

Masjid Tauhid

The Masjid Tauhid mosque is located in the middle of the Mathildenviertel, one of the most mixed religious quarters in Offenbach. Up to 200 visitors come to the green-carpeted room in the Mathildenviertel for Friday prayers. The mosque, which is run by a Pakistani and a German imam, also has a second prayer room available if required.

Friday prayers are recited alternately in Urdu and German to reflect the different countries of origin of the community members. The Sunni religious community "Unity of Islam", founded in 1993 by Pakistani believers, is the sponsor of Masjid Tauhid. Masjid Tauhid' attaches great importance to educational work with young people and children. Weekly Islamic lessons are offered in German for children on the history and interpretation of the Koran as well as Islamic jurisprudence and etiquette, in which the members of the community get involved. For example, play days are organized for children. All Islamic holidays are celebrated in the mosque and form important cornerstones of community life. The mosque is open to visitors every day from lunchtime.
