Traffic Information for the Festival of Lights on August 8
04.08.2026 – Everything’s ready for the night of all nights: As the Perseids streak across the sky, picnickers will gather this coming Saturday, August 8, starting at 5 p.m. in Büsingpark to be enchanted by the Capitol Symphony Orchestra and 30,000 lights. With “License to Rock On His Majesty’s Symphonic Service,” the orchestra is dedicating this year’s lively crossover concert to Her Majesty’s secret agent, James Bond.
The Festival of Lights is all about the carefree enjoyment of music and picnics. To ensure the safety of all guests, there are a few rules that apply on the festival grounds: Among other things, knives and other sharp objects may not be brought onto the grounds; reusable plastic and wooden cutlery are permitted; and dogs must stay at home unless they are service dogs. Guests are also asked to refrain from bringing their own real-wax candles to illuminate their picnic areas.
To ensure that everyone can enjoy the evening to the fullest, the grounds are secured with fences and bollards. As in previous years, there is only one central entrance at the Lesegarten / near the City Library. Those who already have a “Flanier” wristband may also use the entrance on Kaiserstrasse near Regina-Jonas-Weg. An exclusive entrance with a ticket booth for people with mobility impairments is located near the Sheraton Hotel on Berliner Strasse.
Notice for Drivers
During the Festival of Lights, one side of Kaiserstrasse between Berliner Strasse and Speyerstrasse, as well as Speyerstrasse itself and the street on Linsenberg, will be closed to traffic.
Visitors arriving by car for the Festival of Lights will find nearby parking in the Haus der Wirtschaft and Stadthaus parking garages on Berliner Straße, as well as in the Französisches Gässchen parking garage and on Ziegelstraße.
Arrival by public transport
The festival grounds are easily accessible by bus and S-Bahn via the Marktplatz station. The station is served by bus lines 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 108, 120, 41, 551, 661, V10, and X83, as well as S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S8, and S9.
Advance ticket sales through Friday, August 7
Anyone who purchases a wristband in advance at a retail location can use the regular entrance at the Lesegarten and the entrance on Kaiserstraße to access the festival grounds. In-person advance ticket sales at the OF-InfoCenter on Salzgäßchen will take place on Thursday, August 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Friday, August 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Seated tickets can, of course, also be purchased there.
Those who prefer to purchase tickets with just a few clicks can do so online until Friday at 12:00 p.m. via Frankfurt Ticket (www.frankfurtticket.de), plus advance booking fees. On the day of the event, online orders will be exchanged for an admission wristband at the entrance to the Lesegarten.
