Jo Wilhelm Arts

JO WILHELM ARTS began taking photographs when he was nine years old, worked as an apprentice to local photographers and successfully took part in competitions and exhibitions. He photographed for newspapers and advertising. This was followed by an academic career and later a degree in art history in Frankfurt. He also worked in journalism and graphic design as well as in the fields of installation, photo art, photography and photo reportage. He regularly publishes his photographic art in exhibitions in Germany and abroad as well as in internet forums such as "World's Best Landscapes" and "World's Best Photographers & Artists". His work can be found in public and private collections. He runs a studio in the Zollamt Studios Offenbach.

Jo Wilhelm Arts has dedicated himself entirely to "serial art". His areas of work are diverse. In addition to commissioned works for companies and institutions as well as portraits in color and black and white, his free works can be divided into several dozen thematically related series. These include MYSTERIOUS LANDSCAPES, FOCUS ON ARTS, MOTION, MINIMALISM and STREET VIEW. His works from photo journeys abroad can be found in the series VENICE ONCE AGAIN, MALEDIVES and EUROPE, among others.

His works are almost always based on photographs. He is known, among other things, for his pictorial realization of the 19 paragraphs of the Basic Law (DEMOKRATIE LEBEN), for the PICTURES FROM THE WETTERPARK, his sensitive portraits of former deported children or for the series "BLICK UND HÄNDE SPRECHEN BÄNDE". Critics attest to the unusually high aesthetic quality of his work.
