The "habitat" exhibition at KUNSTANSICHTEN 2026
In this photographic series, Norbert Holick focuses on things in our living space that usually elude conscious perception. These are the wonderful inanities of objects that have been dislocated from their actual purpose, unusual compositions of objects and coincidental coincidences of situations whose existence nobody would ever have intended. These each form a new narrative and shape - grotesquely, playfully or sometimes melancholically - our "human habitat".
For Norbert Holick, photography is the outstanding form of expression for capturing this fleetingness of the respective moment or sometimes creating subversive compositions. The decision to take a photograph is situational and is not subject to any restrictive concept. Rather, the process of seeing, subjective perception and vague intuition dictates the next step.
At Kunstansichten 2026, Holick is exhibiting as a guest at the invitation of photo artist Jo Wilhelm Arts in his studio.

Norbert Holick has been a self-taught photographer since his youth. Initially documentary works from his spatial surroundings, he later turned to travel photography from countries such as the USA, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Ladakh, Australia and various European countries.
His eye for documentary subjects remained the same. However, he increasingly focused on the banal, random and often fleeting situations in the public space around us, which elude conscious attention. His formal exploration within photography was supported in particular by workshops at Wolfgang Zurborn's Lichtblick School in Cologne, among others.
