Offenbach smiley for "schauMahl"

Offenbach's consumer protection agency regularly inspects companies in the catering industry. Those that do well here can apply for the yellow Offenbach smiley. This year, Mayor Peter Schneider honored the restaurant "schauMahl". He presented the owner Stefan Lang with the Offenbach smiley for a "very good" overall result in the last inspection.

Mayor Peter Schneider (left) hands over the Offenbach smiley to Stefan Lang (center) and his team Esra Egner (2nd from left) and Björn Andreas (2nd from right) together with official veterinarian Monika Grimm (right).

The city awards the "Offenbach Smiley" to food business operators in the catering industry on the basis of a food inspection carried out according to "risk-oriented principles". The test result, determined by the Office for Consumer Protection and Veterinary Affairs as part of the statutory regular inspections of the business, forms the basis for the assessment. If the last inspection was completed with a good to very good result, the "Offenbach Smiley" can be applied for informally. The issued smiley is valid until the next food inspection (approx. 2 years) and the resulting official risk assessment.

The award-winning restaurant "schauMahl" at Bismarckstraße 177 has been in operation since 2005. With five employees, it offers modern and creative upscale cuisine.

The culinary delights are served in the corner house in a friendly atmosphere under the direction of Esra Egner in the form of two combinable menus. Head chef Björn Andreas has a special appreciation for food from nature. He only uses high-quality and predominantly regional products. Vegetarian alternatives are of course also available. An extensive wine list with good advice is part of the service. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., closed on Sundays.
