Exemplary hygiene: Offenbach smiley for daycare center 18
07.02.2020 – When cooking for children, it is particularly important to observe the rules of food hygiene. The kitchen at the daycare center in Bismarckstraße 137a has implemented this in a particularly exemplary manner. City Councillor Sabine Groß therefore presented the Offenbach Smiley to the team led by head chef Bouchra Bouhnouf and operations manager Anette Gork, head of housekeeping and hygiene Robert Jarek and Senay Öztürk from the learning workshop on Wednesday, February 5.
"Not only is the EKO's catering concept implemented here, but the hygiene requirements for storing, processing and preparing meals for the children are also implemented in an exemplary manner," emphasized Groß.
In the daycare center operated by the Offenbach daycare center (EKO), the kitchen attaches great importance to a healthy and child-friendly diet. Cook Bouhnouf buys the food herself and prepares the menu. "The children's wishes are taken into account," says operations manager Gork. Bouhnouf cooks 120 meals a day for the children, with meat dishes twice a week. "There are lots of foreign dishes but also sauerkraut," says Gork and is delighted with the award along with her team.
Since 2011, the city of Offenbach has awarded a smiling smiley to restaurants that have achieved a good or very good result in one of the official food inspections. The smiley is a smiling face with the Offenbach logo and consecutive official numbering, with the name of the restaurant and the date of the last inspection. The city awards the badge on the basis of the inspection results, which are determined by the city's Veterinary and Consumer Protection Office. Those with good to very good results can apply for the Offenbach Smiley on a voluntary basis. The city's Veterinary and Consumer Protection Office inspects the 210 eateries in Offenbach once a year - establishments that score good or very good are visited every 18 months. The three food inspectors visit the restaurant unannounced.
