The virus is transmitted through the bite of mosquitoes. The reservoir for the virus can be forest animals but also humans.
A vaccination against yellow fever is possible. The yellow fever vaccination is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for travel to yellow fever-infected areas. It is mandatory when entering a large number of destination or transit countries.
According to the International Health Regulations (IHR), certificates of vaccination or revaccination against yellow fever are only valid internationally if the vaccine used is recognized by the WHO, approved in Germany by the Paul Ehrlich Institute and the vaccination was carried out in a vaccination centre approved by the responsible health authority (in Hesse, the Darmstadt Regional Council).
A large number of gel fever vaccination centers are licensed in the Rhine-Main region.
Unfortunately, the Offenbach City Health Department cannot provide this vaccination service.
