Emergency paramedic

Under the umbrella of the fire department, around 250 experts roll up their sleeves every day to ensure the safety of Offenbach's residents: whether it's extinguishing a burning roof truss, providing life-saving assistance in medical emergencies or warding off other dangers such as flooding - the fire department performs a wide range of tasks for the city's society, where nothing works without our team spirit.

Training objectives

  • Three-year full-time training to become an emergency paramedic with completion of a state examination based on the Emergency Paramedic Act(NotSanG)
  • Development of generally recognized rescue service, medical, professional, personal, social and methodological skills for the independent provision of emergency medical care
  • Competent handling of emergency care and patient transport operations as a responsible vehicle driver
  • Carrying out disinfection work
  • Documentation and follow-up of operations
  • Checking and ensuring the operational readiness of vehicles, equipment and materials
  • Performing various tasks in the areas of the rescue service organization of the office

What you bring with you

  • Secondary school leaving certificate or other equivalent completed school education or successfully completed vocational training of at least two years' duration following a secondary school leaving certificate (or equivalent school education)
  • You must be at least 18 years old at the start of the apprenticeship
  • Very good health aptitude and unrestricted fitness for duty
  • Willingness to work in shifts and flexibility
  • Ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility, open-mindedness and enthusiasm
  • Possession of an EU driving license (at least class B)
  • Confident knowledge of written and spoken German (at least level C1 CERF)
  • Impeccable police clearance certificate
  • Current vaccination or immunity against measles

Duration of training and salary

  • The apprenticeship lasts three years
  • Approx. €1,300 in the first year to €1,500 in the third year plus shift work allowances from shift work onwards

We would like to offer you the opportunity to train as a civil servant to become a fire officer in the middle fire department. Prerequisites for this are, among other things, the legal career requirements and successful participation in the aptitude test.

The application period is usually once a year in winter

What happens after your application?

First of all, you will receive an invitation from us to take a sports and practical test. If you pass, you will then be invited to a theoretical aptitude test in person, which is divided into a written and an oral part.

The professional fire department of the city of Offenbach has set itself the goal of increasing the proportion of women. For this reason, applications from women are particularly welcome.
