Apprentices successfully promote training with the city
04.11.2022 – This year, the Offenbach Education Fair was once again held at the beginning of October. It gives employers the opportunity to provide an insight into their range of apprenticeships, degree courses and further education opportunities. The city of Offenbach am Main was also represented at the fair, which was attended by many interested young people.
Trainer Christina Holzamer and five municipal trainees were on hand to advise the pupils about training or a dual course of study at Offenbach City Council. They also provided information on the further training and career opportunities available to young people after their training. On both days of the fair, one trainee from each of the following professions was available for discussions: administrative assistant, administrative administrator, inspector candidate and IT specialist specializing in system integration. "On the first day, the fair was almost exclusively attended by school classes, whereas on the second day, it was mainly parents and their children who came to us," report future administrative administrators Samuel Ghirmai and Marik Friede. "We answered questions about the length and content of the respective training occupation or the respective requirements that an applicant must bring with them, but also what Offenbach City Council has to offer as an employer," added Leonie Stadtmüller, a trainee administrative assistant, and Luka Pejic, who is training to become an IT specialist specializing in system integration. Specifically, the trainees explained, among other things, the possibility of flexible working hours, the free job ticket for the entire RMV fare zone and the many other benefits offered by the City of Offenbach. The young people naturally also asked the trainees about the practical stages of training in the public sector and were very pleased to receive first-hand information.
Trade fair stand: trainees also actively involved in preparations
For the municipal trainees, participation was not only interesting as advisors, they were also actively involved in the preparations. The team discussed how the training stand should be designed in order to draw young people's attention to the city's apprenticeships and get them interested in one or other of the professions. "Together, we found it exciting and challenging to successfully implement a vivid exhibition stand, a presentation of the benefits for employees of the city administration and an in-depth insight into our training professions," explain Luca Serdaris and Blerina Troni, who are being trained as a trainee inspector and a trainee inspector. The municipal trainees found the exchange with the young people positive throughout and see it as an enrichment for both sides. The trainees were able to gain practical experience in the field of personnel recruitment and the young people received answers to all their questions. The five trainees wish all future applicants every success in the application process and look forward to meeting plenty of committed new colleagues.
