The budget brochure of our city

Everyone pays taxes, fees and charges - but many people are unaware of what this money is used for in Offenbach. The City of Offenbach's annual budget brochure provides a clear overview of what the money is used for.

Even those who find economic and financial topics too complex should take a look at the brochure: it explains technical terms in clear, easy-to-understand language and illustrates important relationships with graphics.

The brochure comprises around 50 pages and explains what a budget contains, how it is drawn up and what amounts are budgeted for the individual areas of the city, from child, youth and family welfare to culture, science and sports promotion. Comparisons are also made with previous years and other cities.

"The people of Offenbach have a right to know what money is spent on in this city, where the money comes from and who actually makes the decisions on how much money is spent in the various areas," says City Treasurer Martin Wilhelm. "Especially in the current tense financial situation, it is important that people understand how the city draws up a budget and what challenges are involved."

The printed brochure is available to take away from numerous municipal offices, the Offenbach City Information Office, district offices and selected youth centers. The budget brochure is also available digitally at www.offenbach.de/haushaltsvideo. In addition, an explanatory video on the municipal budget is available online in an easy-to-understand format, which clearly explains important relationships.
