Results of the 2022 census
The census, formerly known as the population census, is an official federal and state statistics project to collect data on buildings, housing and the population.
This statistical survey is used to determine how many people live in Germany and how they live and work.
Many decisions at federal, state and local level are based on population and housing figures. In order to have reliable basic figures for planning, a regular population survey is necessary. Data from administrative registers is primarily used for this purpose, so that the majority of the population does not have to provide any information.

The Federal Statistical Office published the population figures as of May 15, 2022 at the Federal Press Conference on June 25, 2024.
According to the census, the city of Offenbach am Main had 129,479 inhabitants on May 15, 2022, 64,456 of whom were female.
A revision of the official population data will be carried out by the Federal Statistical Office on the cut-off dates of June 30/December 31 for the years 2022-2024.
